As I understand it, only anointed were considered "Jehovah's Witnesses" and the "Jonadabs" or "Great Multitude" were not. Can anyone confirm this from literature? This was the situation initially I am certain.

Brazen Conduct???
by Vanderhoven7 inhow is brazen conduct defined by the elders?
.
do you know of any cases where it has been improperly used against the r&f...you-know, like squeezing the toothpaste tube the wrong way is sometimes touted as mental cruelty?

It was new when I dropped out so I missed the boat on that one. I heard of its implementation, but no, sorry. Seems to be a catch all. It works for any show of challenging the authority of the elders.

"Jehovah" and the less emphasized "Jesus." WHY?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthere has always been less emphasis on jesus, and more on the name jehovah.
if jesus played for the wtbts baseball team, he would play right field.
he would be good enough to start but by playing right field, he wouldn't see too many baseballs hit his way.

Gotta confess the name of Jesus to the glory of God the Father, Jehovah. Duh?

Has Politics Changed How You View Your Entertainment?
by minimus inwhen i watch a tv show or movie or even a ball game, i don’t want to be deluged with matters involving politics.
entertainers and sports heros should stick to doing what people pay them for.
entertain us and just do your job!.

Being aware of the politics we are enduring now more than ever before I notice the activism in some scripts of shows I like:
Two current medical dramas included hot topics. One had a transgender teen explaining his/her situation to an autistic doctor, basically as if he were an idiot. It was an opportunity to advocate for that viewpoint. The other was about a worker at a hospital that collapses because she was sick with cancer. Of course she was undocumented and ICE was called to take her because she couldn't pay for treatment. Both of these shows were heavy handed with propaganda for one side of the political argument. Both shows are well done, but ease up guys.

With the passing of my father (80) recently, it has become plain to me that we fall like dominoes. One generation after another and along comes another with its quirks and societal idiosyncrasy's. There is nothing unique to any generation, its all variations on a theme. One thing that doesn't change is the older generation becoming the dirt which the next generation grows their vegetables. ...and so it goes. (Vonnegut reference).

Assistance would be appreciated
by Plato inguess some introduction would be nice, before anything.
i’m a 17 year old men boy raised on a very liberal, highly intelectualized jw family.
currently very anxious on starting medical school at a high ranked public university around here.

Here is the key to your lack of dissatisfaction: "My dad has the incredible feat of being an elder and having a PhD." You were raised by a man who thinks for himself I am sure. He has found some intellectual satisfaction in the WT thinking. In time it will wain I am sure. He has obviously allowed you to express your feelings and to think. It seems it will work out if he continues to reason on what is really happening in the WT organization. It is crumbling with such silliness its deplorable. Once he sees through the false face of WT he will also question the pseudo-intellectualism of the "the TRUTH". Look into the Australian Royal Commission's investigation into child abuse in the WT. Even a GB member lied during testimony. Don't miss it. Look on YouTube.

Have it somewhere else and don't use elders. Say whatever the hell you want. Problem solved. Throw the outline OUT. -

God Cannot Lie, But God's Organization Can?
by AmABeliever inin the recently leaked bethel training videos, both speakers state that inappropriate flirting really amounts to lying, as if a person is misrepresenting either his interest or availability to another person romantically.. we are reminded that the bible is very plain in its expressions on lying such as proverbs 12:22 which states it is detestable to god.
so with the example given here, we must have a very high standard in separating what is truthful from what is not.. with that being the case, it shocks me that bethel would produce a video presented to all in attendance at the 2017 regional convention regarding the early 1970's, essentially rewriting history as to what actually happened.. is misrepresenting your past and misleading millions of followers not a much more extreme case of lying from those who claim to reject any form of lying no matter how small, such as flirting?
would anyone like to add more examples to this thread?.

Watchtower Teachings That Don't Make Sense
by Vanderhoven7 inthere are a number of things that don't make sense to me about your religion.
a. blood prohibitions: .
- plasma...when all components of plasma are acceptable to the society.
-

I always scratched my head when they said, "be careful not to stumble anyone because their blood will be on you" while at the same time telling us that "no one can stumble you if you are righteously inclined" and "they went out because they were not of our sort". How the hell did they get in? Such duplicity.

Does praying really matter? Where is the evidence?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmatthew 7:7 jesus says: ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
for every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
